As an introduction, I would like to post a bit about this blog and myself. My name is Miyu (mee-yoo, like me and you), and I'm a student at Sacramento State University. I'm majoring in journalism, and this semester I am currently enrolled in news writing and reporting classes (J 130 A&B). As a part of the class, every student gets a beat to cover for the entire semester. My beat is Sacramento local bands and musicians.
This blog is not a part of the requirement for the class, but I figured it would be a cool way to connect with more people if I posted my review on the shows that I go to and the performers I meet in addition to the stories I turn in for the class. I am trying to get a hold of a video recorder, so maybe in the near future I could post videos of performances or interviews.
Your suggestions are always welcome. But please keep in mind that I am a student journalist/blogger, not a professional music critic. It would be great if you could read and enjoy this blog as a work-in-progress and not take it too seriously.
If you are a local band or a musician in Sacramento area, and would like to be featured in this blog, LET ME KNOW! Whether your genre is pop, rock, jazz, hip-hop, country or everything in between, I would love to talk to you. I am planning on continuing with this blog after the semester's over, so the more performers I can get a hold of, the better and the merrier!
